I was born and raised in Rogersville, TN, earned a bachelor’s degree in Health & Physical Education from Virginia Tech where I lettered in Football and Track & Field and met Chyleen, my wife of 44 years. After a brief stint in the pros, I returned to my hometown to teach and coach at my alma mater. In 1981, we moved to Prince William County, VA and joined one of my Hokie teammates teaching and coaching.

In 1985, another of my Hokie teammates introduced me to his manager with State Farm and I left education to become my own boss. As my agency grew, so did our family. We have three children, Christin lives and works in Washington, DC, Alanna (husband-Tony) lives and works in Alexandria, VA and Leigh (wife-Amanda) works remotely for me. We are proud grandparents to Charlotte, who celebrated her 2nd birthday this past September. Charlotte is expecting a little brother in April.

My passion for coaching and working with young people never left me. So, when a friend called and asked me to help him coach the jumpers at Georgetown University, it was easy for me to say yes. My children got to travel with me to some wonderful track & field events like the IC4A/ECAC, Big East and US Track & Field Championships and Penn Relay Carnival. I’m happy to say that as they got older, my children allowed me to coach them as well. The experience I have gained from maintaining a home and raising a family over the last 40+ years has made me realize the importance of managing the risks of everyday life. As a team, we love helping families.
